Fact #1: I had a miserable time in my highschool sewing class. I took one semester and that was it for me. I successfully made the pyjama pants and the pillow case but our teacher put me on edge and some of my classmates were not particularly kind.
Fact #2: There is a sewing pattern on the kitchen table, from Closet Core Patterns. It’s for a skirt. I ordered it.
Fact #4: I have a diploma from a fashion college but I did the « Business Stream » because of Fact #1.
Evidence review: my partner and I had to whittle our beloved belongings to fit into a single, sea-faring wooden crate to make our continental move. A lot of things were given away or carted off to the second-hand shop. What did make the cut, without any deliberation, is my Janome sewing machine (Exhibit A), a gift from Mom and Dad when embarking on the dreaded Semester of Sewing. Need I remind you that there is a beginner Closet Core pattern on the kitchen table (Exhibit B) and if you looked into my wardrobe you would see not a single skirt (perhaps the motive?).
This coming weekend I am going to unpack the pattern (and unpack my emotions from that high school sewing class) and see what the heck I can do. Step one will be reading through the instructions, then taking measurements and purchasing fabric. I think I can manage that (Fact #5).
Sew, until next week, I knit.
See you then.
